Toddler swimming lessons are a great way to introduce your child to water safety and help them become comfortable in the water at an early age. At Ready Steady Splash our toddler lessons typically focus on building confidence, learning safety skills, and basic water familiarity rather than formal strokes or technique. Here’s what you can expect from toddler swimming lessons:
1. Age Range:
Our toddler swimming lessons are for children aged 1 – 3 years old and are split into 2 age groups 1-2 years and 2-3 years this is so we can focus on different areas as they go through their development stages and needs as they grow.
2. Goals of Toddler Swimming Lessons:
Water Safety: At Ready Steady Splash our experienced teachers will teach your toddler a range of different water skills including how to float, kick, blow bubbles and help them understand basic water safety rules and much much more.
Water Comfort: Confidence is the biggest part of every childs learn to swim journey so our teachers help and encourage toddlers in the water to feel comfortable, we encourage them without force to get their faces wet, learn to blow bubbles, find fish and mermaids and using their motor skills and imagination to make sure it’s a very fun enjoyable experience every week.
Fun: Making learning enjoyable with songs, games, and playful activities.
3. Common Activities in our Lessons:
Songs and Rhymes: We use simple common nursery songs but add some twists to the words to encourage fun natural water skills and introduce simple swim techniques whilst having fun and encouraging water exploration.
Floatation Devices: in some of our class’s we may use pool noodles, kickboards and may introduce shark fins as they develop, this allows toddlers to start feeling more independent to explore and progress.
Splashing and Kicking: Toddlers learn how to kick their legs or splash in the water, helping to develop coordination and confidence.
Underwater Exploration: We slowly introduce toddlers to underwater activities, we never force these but encourage them to submerge their face, blow bubbles and jump in from the step or pool edge.
Games: We use many games and activities which all support progression and building confidence in every toddlers learn to swim journey.
