How Long will it take my child to learn to swim.

The answer generally is how long is a piece of string but let me try my best and break it down for you based on research.
There are so many areas to understand when it comes to swimming:
Confidence:
Many children start swimming lessons with very little confidence so this takes time to build before we can think about learning to swim, sometimes this can take as long to build as learning to swim itself but it varies from child to child.
Co-ordination:
We are teaching and asking children to blow bubbles, move their arms, kick their legs, float, propel through the water and breath in a certain co-ordinated way to enable them to swim confidently, efficiently and successfully. As you can image this is tough for swimmers to be able to put this together and this takes time but we teach them step by step and progress each child as they feel ready.
Time:
There is research which I slightly agree with based on my own swim school statistics that an average learn to swim swimmer needs 100 hours to learn to swim, obviously this can massively vary based on an individual child but as an average its a good number to aim for. However let me break this down, 30 minutes of swimming lesson per week over a 38 week academic year time frame of when our swim school is open means that your child swims with us for 19 hours per year this equates to your child needing around 5 years in their learn to swim journey to be a good confident able swimmer. Here at Ready Steady Splash we run the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework from Discovery Ducklings all the way to stage 7 Learn to swim.
Can you help reduce this time?
Yes as parents, grandparents or guardians you can really help your little swimmers in many ways, at bath times allow them to wear goggles, find some sinkable toys where they have to blow their bubbles and practice eyes in to retrieve them.
Take them to a private pool or leisure centre for family swims allow them to show you what they have learnt and just have lots of fun with them.
Extra lessons per week will always help however we do know that financial circumstances means this cant always be possible but we do offer second lessons at half price you just need to pop Hannah a WhatsApp on 07378839922 :
